Effective March 31st, UPS has announced the “rebranding” of UPS SurePost to UPS Ground Saver. Following a similar move taken by FedEx back in 2021 “rebranding” their comparable FedEx SmartPost service to FedEx Ground Economy. Highlighting both carrier’s termination of their agreement with the USPS in making final mile deliveries. While Ground Saver terms and conditions remain basically the same as its predecessor, there is one key difference to make note of: maximum liability will be reduced to $20 vs $100 per package.
As a side note, according to TDU.org (Teamsters Website), the UPS Ground Saver agreement states that “final delivery of packages can be done by UPS or the USPS”. Could this mean there may be a future reconciliation between Big Brown and the USPS on the horizon?
